Processing activities centred on it provide employment opportunities to people in rural areas of coconut producing states of the country viz. Kerala, Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Odisha etc.
Recent developments in the Coir and Rubber Mat Industry are due to mechanization and higher export growth which led to move the industry from being conventional to professional right from beginning and the social standards which are expected by the respective international clients are SA8000, SEDEX, BSCI, BEPI, CTPAT, GRS.
